What's That Song From the 'Dear John' Trailer?

If you've turned on a television at any point in the past month or so, odds are you've caught the commercial trailer for 'Dear John,' the upcoming film starring newcomers Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried. Based on a story by 'The Notebook' author Nicholas Sparks, Tatum plays a young soldier who falls in love while on leave from a stint overseas and is later forced to return to active duty.
The trailer is given extra dramatic weight in the second half by its soundtrack, as the pulsing beat of Snow Patrol's 'Set the Fire to the Third Bar' builds among a montage of significant moments from the film. The aching, emotional tune, which also features singer Martha Wainwright, is an appropriate fit as it also deals with the difficulties of a long-distance relationship. The lyric "I pray that something picks me up and sets me down in your warm arms," seems to echo the sentiments of the characters exactly, as if the song were written specifically for the story.
The brooding Irish rockers are no strangers to having their music featured on television, as their melancholy sounds seems almost tailor-made for dramatic soundtracks. Snow Patrol songs have made notable appearances on shows like 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'Gossip Girl' and 'Six Feet Under,' just to name a few.

And Channing Tatum is not a new comer...he is a very good actor and he should be more recognized....also he is more than a good looking guy..I mean the way he talks and smiles seriously takes me to another world!...and his eyes reflect that he is a very good person on the inside...I love him!:)
The guitar section in the beginning (up to where he hits his surfboard on the pier) actually belongs to another song. "Paperweight" by Joshua Radin and Schuyler Fisk which can also be found on 'The Last Kiss' soundtrack.
