White Stripes Documentary to Hit UK Theatres, Premiere at SXSW
Jack and Meg White's documentary, 'The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights,' won't be heading straight to DVD anymore. According to NME, the film will show in UK theaters and be released to coincide with the DVD and live album set that was already planned for spring. But the White Stripes haven't forgotten about the US, as the duo will premiere the film at this year's SXSW. Although no specifics on when the movie will actually play during the Austin festival, you'll definitely need a badge to actually view it.
Directed by Emmett Malloy, the movie follows the White Stripes during their 2007 Canadian tour and features live performances, backstage interviews and even Jack walking around in a kilt.
'The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights' is set for a March release. A special box set will include a big DVD collection, a live album on CD and vinyl, a 208-page book, a silk screen print and other band memorabilia.
