Shane MacGowan 'Assembles Haitian Charity Line-Up'

It has the potential to be the most bizarre charity record since Lou Reed teamed up with opera singer Lesley Garrett, conductor Sir Andrew Davis, David Bowie and a host of others for a fund-raising version of Lou Reed's 'Perfect Day.'As music mogul Simon Cowell pulls out the stops to record and release his all-star charity version of R.E.M.'s 'Everybody Hurts' to raise much-need funds for the Haitian earthquake appeal, the Pogues' singer Shane MacGowan has reportedly assembled a crack line-up of alt.rock luminaries for his own contribution to the cause.
According to the Sun, MacGowan has called on the services of actor Johnny Depp and his partner Vanessa Paradis as well as Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie and Bad Seeds lynchpin Nick Cave for a version of Screamin' Jay Hawkins' 1956 rock'n'roll classic, 'I Put A Spell On You.' Speculation is rife that Simply Red's Mick Hucknell will join the line-up.
The song was chosen as one of the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame's '500 Songs that Shaped Rock 'N' Roll' has been covered over the years by artists as diverse as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Nina Simone and Marilyn Manson.

Shane MacGowan gets his fair share of bad press, but the guy has a big heart and is a hugely underated poet! I'm sure the record will be great
Good for you. Go for it.

I grew up in Miami and know Johnny Depp from when he was in a band called The Kids. He was the singer and he was about 19-20 years old. He would play at the University of Miamis college bar and I don't know if he was any good but he was VERY cute!
I would be happy to see him sing again and for such a good cause!
