Kasabian's Tom Meighan Says Liam Gallagher Should Go Solo

Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan thinks that Liam Gallagher should abandon hopes to continue making music under the Oasis banner, saying he should go it alone.

In an interview published in the March issue of Q magazine, Meighan says, "It's not Oasis without Noel, and I think they'd both agree with that," adding, "I think Liam should go it alone."

Oasis split last summer, and although Kasabian supported the explosive group on their 2009 world tour, Meighan said there was no sign that the band were about to announce a final split.

He said, "Did I see it coming? No I can't say I did."

The singer further explained, "I was in Germany doing a terrible festival when someone texted me they'd split up and I was as shocked as anyone. I texted Liam and Noel just to say, 'I am really sorry and best of luck' to both of them. It's sad but the new music will be just amazing."

Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys are both set to fight it out at the upcoming NME Awards, with both bands nominated for Best British Band, Best Live Band, Best Album, Best Video and the new Giving It Back Fan Award next month.
