Robyn Whitehead, Pete Doherty's unofficial photographer and documentary film-maker, was found dead at an east London flat on Sunday Jan. 24, police have confirmed.
Whitehead, whose documentary film on the Libertines, 'The Road To Albion' was in post-production, was found around 8pm, and Scotland Yard have stated so far that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
In a statement her family have said, "Robyn had an exceptional capacity for compassion and for love both to her family and close friends and to all those whom she touched. This was reflected in the depths and passion of her art. To lose her so young and so far before her life's work was done is heartbreaking."
Whitehead was the daughter of '60s director Peter Whitehead, who along with counterculture films, also made promo clips for the Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd. She was also an heir to the Goldsmith family through her grandfather Teddy Goldsmith, who started the Ecologist publication.
Doherty was charged and fined for possesion of heroin in court on Wednesday (Jan. 27) as reported on Spinner. The fine relates to the Babyshambles frontman's reckless driving charge at Gloucester Crown Court in December, when four grams of heroin were found in a search of his coat pockets.
Doherty's lawyer Bruce Clark told the British court that the singer felt "very stupid" and explained, "He is a recovering heroin addict and has received some very sophisticated medical treatment. He had been an addict for some years and is a very well known, famous musician with a huge international reputation."
