Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Report Stolen Gear
- Posted on Jan 29th 2010 8:36PM by Benjy Eisen
The latest entry on Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's website reads "PLEASE REPOST THIS" -- and with good reason. According to the original message, the band's gear was stolen when their "personal locker was broken into" on Wednesday. Much of the equipment actually belonged to Michael Been, the band's soundman and father of bassist Robert Levon Been.Among the stolen items: a 1954 Fender Esquire (yellow with black pick guard), a 1968 Ampeg scroll top fretless bass, a 1964 black Fender Precision bass and a 1968 Gretsch Country Gentleman single cutaway.
Threads instantly sprouted up on BRMC's web forum, with fans vowing to help look for the stolen items and calling the robbers names like "scum." Acknowledging their quick response, Michael Been wrote his own post in the forums. "I want to thank all of you for your concern and support, but at the end of the day, it's just stuff. It's really great stuff, but it's just stuff," he states. "All that matters is that we love and take care of each other. The rest just mostly gets in the way." Um...truth!

Evidently, there isn't any sort of 'filter' for the comments, hence the insipid and malware-laden links to some non-existant shopping site.
As for the band and their stolen gear, I hate theives as much as the next guy, put firmly in the same catagory as pedophiles, in my opinion.
But I digress.
The first thing I thought of was that the gear was POSSIBLY stolen by fans of Zakk Wylde's 'Black Label Society', as they deem any band with a motorcycle gang-related "shtick" to be rivals. No proof, I'm just saying.
Of course, probably more likely was that the gear was stolen by some toothless, inbred meth addict, hoping to score so he can get with his mother...again.
F**k theives, pedophiles and meth addicted, inbred, incestuous pieces of excrement covered gutter detritus.
You know who you are...
