Beyonce Wins Grammy for Song of the Year
The awards portion of the 52nd Grammy Awards kicked off Sunday night in Los Angeles with Song of the Year, given to Beyonce for 'Singles Ladies (Put a Ring On It).'Also up for the award were Maxwell's 'Pretty Wings,' Taylor Swift's 'You Belong to Me,' Kings of Leon's 'Use Somebody' and Lady Gaga's 'Pokerface.'
Beyonce was unable to accept the award as she was backstage preparing for her performance later Sunday evening. Her co-songwriters accepted the award on her behalf.
But Beyonce's big night began before the show even started. She took home the award for Best R&B Song, Best R&B Contemporary Album for 'I Am ... Sasha Fierce,' Best R&B Female Vocal Performance for 'Single Ladies' and Best Traditional R&B Performance for 'At Last,' from the film 'Cadillac Records.'
