AC/DC's first tour of New Zealand in thirteen years, resulted in 50 arrests for drunk and disorderly after their appearance at Wellington's Westpac Stadium on Saturday night (Jan. 30) -- the night before the Anglo-Australian heavy rock band won their first ever Grammy Award. The show in Wellington, their second at the venue that week, after performing on Thursday (Jan. 28) was followed by 50 arrests -- however police inspector Mike Coleman told the New Zealand Herald arrests were not much worse than the typical 30 to 40 on a normal Saturday in the Kiwi capital, being "not bad, [for] a full moon and a nice hot night."
It is reported that six ambulances were in attendence on the night, with some fans being evicted from the stadium for drunken behaviour.
AC/DC, who are currently touring their first studio album in seven years -- 'Black Ice' -- finally got Grammy recognition on Sunday (Jan. 31), winning the Best Hard Rock Performance category with album track 'War Machine.'
The album has so far sold 6.7m copies worldwide.
AC/DC have been announced as headliners for this year's Download festival in the UK, which takes place Jun. 11-13.
