Pete Doherty's Manager Faces Jail Over Hit-and-Run

The darkness surrounding Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty grew gloomier with the news that his manager, Andrew Boyd, is facing a custodial sentence over a hit-and-run incident that has left a 42-year-old man, Chris Corder, in coma. Corder had been delivering church letters at the time of the accident.

Boyd pleaded guilty on Friday (Jan. 29) to a charge of dangerous driving at Ipswich Crown Court. The court was told that the accident occurred in Hadleigh, Suffolk,on Sept. 27 last year when Boyd attempted to comfort a distraught four-year-old child who was sitting in the back seat of his Daimler car.

Boyd's defence lawyer told the court: "He must have momentarily taken his eye off the road and at that moment Mr Corder must have stepped onto the road and very unfortunately the collision took place.

"The instinctive reaction of Mr Boyd was not to stop, he should have and he recognises that. The prosecution accept that the dangerous driving is him leaving the scene."

The Daily Telegraph reported Mr Corder's condition is "serious but stable."

Boyd also admitted failing to stop at the scene of an accident, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, driving without reasonable consideration and failing to report an accident.

Judge David Goodin told Boyd to expect jail. ''The offences you pleaded guilty to are serious ones. It may very well be that custody is the only sentence for you.''

Sentencing will take place on Feb. 24.

The prosecution seem to have been bamboozled by an expensive team of defence lawyers. Clearly the dangerous driving occurred before and up to the collision with the poor man who was left in a crumpled heap, not when the cowardly creep decided to run for it and save his own, worthless, skin! In reality, the danger manifested itself the second he placed his unlicensed backside in the driving seat of his powerful, uninsured, limousine.

I love the fact the prosecution say 'The prosecution accept that the dangerous driving is him leaving the scene.' Yeah, nothing to do with him admitting to taking his eyes off the road, having no licence, no insurance, not stopping and not reporting it!
Should have just told them Pete was driving, he usually gets a slap on the wrist and let off.....
