Ageing Britpop monoliths the Charlatans have announced they will perform their 1990 debut album 'Some Friendly' in its entirety in London in May.The gig will take place at the Roundhouse in Camden on May 31, and marks the 20th anniversary of the album, which includes such notable Charlatans tracks as 'Then', 'Sproston Green', 'White Shirt' and of course 'The Only One I Know,' which was actually excluded on the original vinyl pressing of the LP. 'Some Friendly' is set to be reissued to tie in with the special show.
The album was released on Oct. 8 1990 and reached number one in the UK album charts. The band had been together for two years by the time their debut came out.
In the meantime, The Charlatans are reported to be back in the studio working on their next LP, the follow-up to 2008's 'You Cross My Path.' The band have enlisted the services of heavyweight producer Youth, and are looking to release the album before the year is out.
