It's true that punk-rock's elderly homecoming couple, Fred and Toody Cole, are soldiering on with a new project called Pierced Arrows in the wake of Dead Moon's demise. As with everything they touch going back to Fred's garage-rock classic, 'You Must Be a Witch,' Pierced Arrows rock out with all the guttural oomph of 16-year-olds in their parents' basement, despite the fact that the Coles are retirement age.Longtime fan and supporter Eddie Vedder recently composed -- by hand -- a letter of recommendation, so to speak, that Spinner was able to exclusively obtain. "In a day and age when authenticity is harder to come by than an honest Republican, legends Fred and Toody Cole deliver on every record and at every show," writes the Pearl Jam frontman. After claiming that Dead Moon, and now Pierced Arrows, are among his favorite live acts, Vedder goes on to say that the Coles "epitomize the true potential and purest meaning of straight-no-chaser rock 'n' roll -- not just righteous, but right."
You can view the handwritten letter exclusively below, and click here for a stream of Pierced Arrows' new album, 'Descending Shadows,' which is out now on Vice Records.
