After a three-year hiatus during which many fans speculated that they had permanently stuck a fork in it, String Cheese Incident announced Tuesday they would return to the road this summer. So far, only two runs at two venues have been announced but they're both notable for different reasons, above and beyond marking the band's return.SCI was always a live-intensive group that was bent on creating unique live experiences -- or, um, "incidents" -- for their fans and they were key instigators behind the enormously successful Rothbury music festival, which band members kept a hands-on role with. Although Rothbury won't return until 2011, SCI will host a smaller-scale festival during the weekend of July 29 at Horning's Hideout in North Plains, Ore. The spot has been a favorite for the band in years past and they've held a number of special events on its grounds.
But first, SCI will return to another favorite spot, Red Rocks, just outside their home base of Denver, Colo. The band will host three "evening with" concerts there beginning July 23. Additional "incidents" will be announced shortly. Time to bust out that hula hoop you've been hiding in your closet for the past few years.
