Dead Weather Prepare New Album, Tour

If there's one thing we know for certain about Jack White, it's that when the elusive blues rocker comes out, he comes out swinging (and cuts like a buffalo). On that note, White recently told Australian radio station Triple J that his current project, Dead Weather, already have their second album just about in the can. The release is on the fast track to hit retailers in April, just eight months after Dead Weather dropped their debut."We'd love to have the second album out within a year of the first album," White told NME Radio last fall. "Not to just do it as fast as possible and whip it out there -- it has to be something we're really inspired about."
Looks like the little supergroup -- which, in addition to White, features Alison Mosshart (the Kills), "Little Jack" Lawrence (Raconteurs) and Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age) -- found the inspiration they had hoped for. In his interview with Triple J, White said that the follow-up to 'Horehound' will be "bluesier and heavier." He also revealed that he'll take over vocal duties from Mosshart for the first single, "Blue Blood Blues." While White plays guitar in his other projects (White Stripes, Raconteurs), in Dead Weather he sits behind the drum kit.
In anticipation of their new album, or perhaps just because they really are that inspired by playing together, Dead Weather have announced new North American dates this spring, kicking off with a show at the Fillmore in San Francisco on April 15. In addition to their own headlining gigs, Dead Weather will rock the polo fields in Indio, Calif. for Coachella on April 17 and the fairgrounds in New Orleans for Jazz Fest on May 2. Inevitably, more dates will follow.
