It's not as if Gogol Bordello never tours, but the New York gypsy punks have something special in store when they return to the road in April: they'll be headlining their own traveling festival, Casa Gogol. After a handful of dates in Australia in March, Gogol Bordello begins the 10-date North American leg of the Casa Gogol tour April 18 in Montreal, heads as far west as Minneapolis, then brings it back east to end up in Philadelphia May 1. After that, it's off to Europe for another 21 shows in May and June.
In addition to headline sets by Gogol Bordello, which will release a new Rick Rubin-produced album, aptly titled 'Transcontinental Hustle,' this spring, the North American dates will feature DeVotchKa, Jesse Malin with his new backing band, St. Mark's Social (who also have a new album on the way), and Tres Leches Sound Crew, which is the afterparty DJ identity of Gogol Bordello singer Eugene Hutz and percussionist Pedro Erazo.
Non-festival dates in Europe will include Matt and Kim, Mariachi El Bronx (an offshoot of hardcore punk band the Bronx) and Tres Leches Sound Crew.
