'You Light Up My Life' Songwriter Makes Bail in Sexual Assault Case
Known for penning the Debbie Boone ballad 'You Light Up My Life,' Brooks has pled not guilty to a slew of sexual assault charges. The 71-year-old was accused of luring 13 aspiring models and actresses to his apartment via Craigslist, promising them a part in his next movie and then forcing himself on them.
Brooks wrote the song for the 1977 film of the same name, which he also directed. Boone's version earned the Oscar for Best Original Song and a Grammy for Song of the Year. Hear her version below.
