Zooey Deschanel Starring in HBO Pilot About Groupies

It's gearing up to be quite a busy year for actress Zooey Deschanel. Along with the arrival of her and M. Ward's She and Him 'Volume 2' next month, Deadline Hollywood confirms that she's foraying into television by starring as a groupie in a pilot for HBO. Taking a page from Cameron Crowe's 'Almost Famous,' which she also had a role in, Deschanel is starring in an adapted version of professional groupie Pamela Des Barres' memoir 'I'm With the Band.'The book chronicles sexual conquests Des Barres had with the likes of Mick Jagger and Jimmy Page. There's no word yet as whether or not this adaptation will be placed in the '60s or a more modern, fictional account that uses the original book as a guide. We're pretty positive Deschanel can use her and husband -- and Death Cab for Cutie frontman -- Ben Gibbard's insider tales from the business.
She and Him recently gave fans a taste of what's in store for their new album with the song 'In the Sun' and announced dates for a quick spring jaunt, which sold out immediately. They'll also be hitting Austin next month for SXSW 2010 as well as Coachella in mid-April.

This is depressing. We can't move toward equality in the music industry when women (who are in bands, no less) participate in the glorification of intercourse over creativity.
