Elvis Costello Appearing on 'A Prairie Home Companion' Special
- Posted on Feb 4th 2010 11:00AM by Dan Reilly
While on a break from his 'Spectacle' talk show, Elvis Costello will appear on an episode of Garrison Keillor's 'A Prairie Home Companion' tonight, Feb. 4, starting at 7:30PM ET. The special episode, filmed at the program's base St. Paul, Minn.'s Fitzgerald Theater, will be broadcast live in movie theaters around the country before airing at its usual radio timeslot at 6PM ET on Saturday. There's no word yet as to what Costello will be performing, the two-and-a-half-hour program will include performances by Keillor's usual ensemble of actors, singing sisters Jearlyn and Jevetta Steele, vocalist Heather Masse and folk duo Keith and Fred Newman.
Costello's appearance on 'Prairie Home' marks the latest in a diverse set of gigs the singer-songwriter has planned for 2010. After paying tribute to Neil Young at the Grammy Week MusiCares concert, he told Spinner that while his TV show is on indefinite hold, he'll be playing solo shows in California and Arizona, doing a few shows with backing band the Impostors, performing with the Dallas Symphony and doing East Coast and European treks with his latest band, the Sugarcanes.
