Before Snooki's fifteen minutes are up, the reality TV celebrity from MTV's 'Jersey Shore' has certainly been giving America a year's worth of water cooler talk. Her latest contribution to living room entertainment came when she conducted red carpet interviews at the Grammy Awards for MTV. One such interview, with Phoenix, has gone viral and for good reason: it comes across as a real life 'SNL' skit. Snooki, who unwittingly reveals that she has no idea who the band is, turns the focus of the interview towards herself."Are there guidos in France?" she asks the band. When she explains that guidas -- the female version of guidos -- are girls like herself, Phoenix guitarist Branco Mazzalai responds, "Ah, we have guidas. We call them the cagoles." For those keeping score, that translates to "slut" in English. Loosely.
Snooki may have only recognized Mazzalai as a doppelganger for Edward Collins, the vampire hero of 'Twilight,' but the Academy recognized Phoenix for who they are: the band took home the Grammy Award for "Best Alternative Music Album" for their breakthrough smash, 'Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.' No word on whether or not Snooki was impressed.
Put down your coffee and watch the clip over at MTV. And for a great follow-up, be sure to check out Snooki's interview with Judas Priest. It starts out by her admitting, "I have no idea what I'm doing." Yeah...we know.
