John Lennon Museum in Japan Closed by Yoko Ono

A museum dedicated to deceased Beatle John Lennon is set to close its doors after 10 years this September, the exhibition's general manager Junichi Mizusawa has announced.

The John Lennon Museum situated near Tokyo, Japan, was the first museum in the world to be officially approved by Lennon's widow Yoko Ono -- and now with the 10-year agreement not being renewed, all items on show will be returned to her.

Displaying around 130 artefacts, from guitars and clothing to hand-written lyrics and letters, the museum has been visited by over half a million visitors since opening on the 60th anniversary of his birth in October 2000.

Ono, commenting on the closure said, "After 10 years here, John's spirit is now moving on - looking onward to the next journey. Thanks to your love for the museum, what we'd thought would be five years became 10."

Speaking about the need to keep moving on, Ono also explained her reasons, "John Lennon's destiny spanned the whole world. His spirit came alive through movement, and without movement, it dies. If the Museum which houses his spirit never moved, it would be a grave, not a Museum. John does not have a grave. When he passed on, I publicly announced that I would not be holding a funeral for him. I did so because I knew his spirit would live forever."

All of u bitter people should get your own life and stop critisizing what you have no idea about. Grow up you absolutley tactless and selfish kermudgeons.
If you truley took the time to pay attention and had one ounce of a clue you would see that John and yoko and their life have NOTHING to do with yours.
Grow the fuck up she didn't "break up" your precious beatles.
That was losers like you. Leave the woman alone you ungrateful piece of crap.

Witches and devils still trying to control the genius that is John Lennons alone. Certainly not his sinister so called other half fame monster wanna take all the credit gold digging talentless satan worshipper. She will never be John Lennon and that is what kills her the most. Is anyone aware that she hired a witch to sacrifice a perfect white dove for 60,000 dollars a couple years before John was murdered. And she has the gall to speak about peace. She has the spirit of antichrist. Does she think all that money she has made from Johns name is going to buy her a chariot to heaven? She has already made her bed in hell.By the way did anyone catch the movie she made called Satans Bed before she met John. She will never be anything like John Lennon. You wait ,if she has her way before long she will be putting her own name on all of John Lennons music. What a sick hypocrite she is.

I once lived on maui, HI. (early 1990's). Yoko Held an exhibit of Johns art an just overall memorabillia..at a Lahaina Art Gallery. I prayed and communed with John's spirit Hours beforehand, I went to the exhibit with his spirit in tow...channeling him and his spirit in all his wit and slyly loving verbosity. Yoko, had been there the previous evening...but not that following night.(THough she was still on island). I just find it curious..though I don't presume to judge it (for how can I really?)..But I find it curious that she didn't somehow sense that her soulmates spirit..would attempt to overtly contact her that evening. But she was nowhere to be found! John truly believed she would be there as he conveyed that to me through word thoughts and feelings...and yet she wasn't. There were a few in attendance: Who commented that my voice inflection and humour was just like Lenon's...but I already knew. But because of this incident..I've been left to muse and ponder..why didn't she sense he was there? Well,Iam sick with a horrible flu..my lungs hurt and are terribly sore.Must try to sleep a few hours,..goodnight all. William. wll9ada@aol.com

I once corresponded with Yoko via e-mail. She was very polite and thoughtful. Hardly the "dragon lady" some people portray her as. I would remind everyone of John's own words (which I'm paraphrasing): "I love Yoko. If you think I'm in this world for anyone other than her, then screw you brother, or sister." Yoko loved John and wants his memory to live on. What's so wrong about that? This past December, on the anniversary of John's death, my local newspaper didn't make any mention of him at all. If Yoko doesn't look after his memory, no one else will, apparently.

Think about John and Yoko and even some of John's other associates and stunts for a minute. At the height of the Vietnam War when the US Government was killing off more asians than we could realistically count, John pulled one of those "in your face" statements by shacking up with an asian lady, then marrying her. When the military leaders and brain trust were attempting to hold back the so called "Domino" threat of communist expansion in the far east John was screaming "You say want a Revolution, well you know...If you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao you ain't gonna make with anyone anyhow..." John supported, with a dangerous honesty, causes that were extremely unpopular and made statements that were brutally truthful throughout his short life. He went on national TV with one of the outspoken leaders of the Black Panther Party, he commented that more kids were listening to the Beatles than were listening to thier preachers, pastors and rabbi's. Before the ERA movement he wrote a little known song, "Women are the Ni-gers of the world." His songs, "Give Peace a Chance and Imagine" are consistent with being a rebel with a cause. In one of the first American TV interviews when asked how did the Beatles get so popular, his flip remark was, "Well I didn't have to go into an office, like yours, and get on my knees." I watched a video tape when John shouted at his manager, Brian Epstein, who was attempting to have the group polish up a song, "Let us make the the music and you just sit back and collect the f...... royalties." John Lennon was the quintessential capitalist in that he capitalized on his fame to make honest, although unpopular, comments and statements in word, deed and subtle action. When the Beatles, the first rock group to give a Command Performance for the Queen, stepped on the stage at Albert Hall he shouted, "People in the cheap seats clap, the rest of you just rattle your jewelry." Maybe John was bushwhacked or p-----whipped by Yoko, but so is, was and will be the majority of the men in the world.
As far as Yoko breaking up the band, John himself said early on, "We'll last three, four, five years at best, no wants to listen to an 80 year old Bealtle, but I hope an 80 year old will listen to us as we are now."
Why beat up on Yoko? As a matter of fact I think it is good for the Lennon legacy that she protects and preserve the genius of a man that young and old will be listening to a hundred years from now.
Peace.

For me I would have liked to have been one of the ones who walked into the Museum dedicated to John Lennon to view and aww over the personal artefacts of Mr.John Lennon and the Beatle's; however I am not nor will I ever be in Toyo Japan. My hopes would be that YoKo Ono would allow another Museum to show case John Lennon's exhibition of his artefacts thus to allow people like myself to be able to view and aww, but closer to home.

Geeez ! Most of you haters gotta get a life ! You act like you know these people personally. Yeah none of them were saints but are you ? How much money did you donate to charity ? I hate to say it but Yoko is right. The exhibit should move on. Young people mostly couldn't give a crap about the Beatles until Rockband came out.
You have to keep the idea and the music moving as she says and that might mean the dreaded commercial items, products and exhibits that spark peoples interest. That's why it's called the Music BUSINESS....The whole music business is a shell of its formaer self due to illegal downloads and rock and roll has become a dying artform. Instead of bitching, go out an buy a cd and suppost your favorite artist once in a while.
