Michael Jackson's Doctor Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter

AFP/Getty ImagesDr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's personal physician, will face one count of involuntary manslaughter for his role in the singer's death. According to CNN, the complaint filed by Los Angeles County prosecutors says that Murray "did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson."

Murray is expected to surrender this afternoon around 4:30PM ET at a courthouse near Los Angeles International Airport. He was expected to turn himself in last Friday, but Murray's lawyer and prosecutors couldn't agree on the terms of the surrender.

A Houston resident, Murray was hired by Jackson to help the singer cope with the stresses of preparing for his 'This Is It' residency at London's O2 Arena. Murray, a cardiologist, was mainly treating Jackson for insomnia with a combination of anesthetics, including propofol and lorazepam. After Jackson's death on June 25, 2009, the coroner ruled it a homicide and noted that the cause of death was "acute propofol intoxication."

Murray has been in Los Angeles since the end of January, reportedly to visit family and await the charges. Last week, he visited Jackson's gravesite at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

It's a travesty and injustice that anyone can get hard drugs to sleep. It's also a deep loss that we all have to had to endure. Michael Jackson knew what he was getting himself into. That does not relieve his docter of "culpability and response - ability for his hand in his death. There is no blame to be made, only lessons to be learned for all, if we want to garner the lesson.

I think this doctor should be brought in an not given any consideration..and yes I agree with Roger in saying that this happens all the time with the rich and famous but that doesnt make it right. I think this doctor should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. He provided MJ with a lethal amount of drugs. No doctor anywhere is aloud to do that..if you go to your doctor and he gives you some insane amout of morophine and you die from it same would happen..and he would lose his license. A doctor has an obligation to provide a safe amount...no matter what the patient is asking for. I cant walk into my doctors and say hey doc..gimme 5 shots of moraphine to go. I realize that yes this is MJ asking..and yes hes rich and famous..but when someones that addicted to pain meds trust me they arent always real clear in their thinking. the doctor should have realized that an only given a reasonable amount..not something that would stop his heart for gawd sakes.

If he was a drug addict or not is not the problem, he hired the doctor to make sure nothing happened, what if that happened to you. The doctor should be put away so he cant harm any other people with his incompetence

MJ death should not be forgottng, everyone that administer propofol to him outside the hospital should be arrested. The law says administer the medication in the surgery room not people's home. To me even if people are rich anesthetics is control by the drug act so all medical professional should follow the law of the land.

MJ has been useing drugs for 20 to25 years, since he got burned.Dr. Conrad has done nothing wrong except pamper a baby thats 50. as said above us low lifes are discriminated, by the wealthy daily, any fool can see that.MJ is gone it would be nice if his family and others would stop living on MJs dime.your all fn parasites. Its obvious there was severe abuse in there upbringing. The whole family is a mental & emotional disaster. We all no that comes with being famous if you don't like live a normal life like the rest of us

I agree with Lonnie. MJ is gone. I say, if he couldn't live without all those drugs because he was soooooo stressed out, then he probably didn't want to live anyways. None of these celebrities live normal lives like the rest of us, or if there are some, they are few and far between.

Don't be surprised that the good old Doc will plead Not guilty and that all he is guilty of if anything is Assisted Suicide!

Oh puhlease Susan did you just come off the banana boat? Celebrities and rich people are never arrested and cuffed like you and me. They surrender whenever they are ready. When your idol the great King of Pop was indicted for whatever that was he was given as much time as he needed. When he came to the court an hour late and in pajamas they forgave him .what do you think wouldve happened to you if you pulled a stunt like that?

First he was supposed to turn himself in at 1 pm, now it is suddenly 4:30 PM - what's up with that?? I will believe it when I see it. He should have been found and arrested just like anyone else accused of/ indicted for MANSLAUGHTER. What other murderers do you know of that are allowed to set their own schedule for being arrested? and what others are allowed to show up when ever they feel like it?? This is ridiculous - the amount of consideration he has recieved - more than MJ got!
