Ting Tings Aren't Planning for Jay-Z Collaboration

When news came out last year that the Ting Tings had signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation -- the group has actually signed with Roc Nation's management, but is not on the label -- the quick assumption was that the British duo of Jules De Martino and Katie White would be collaborating with the rap icon. Despite that speculation, De Martino says that right now no decision has been made."We've got to get to know him a little bit better," De Martino tells Spinner. It's not that the duo doesn't want to work with Hova. When they went into making their second album, 'Kunst,' in a Berlin club-turned-studio, they wanted to stick to the same formula as their debut, 'We Started Nothing.' That meant doing it all on their own.
De Martino says that right now that's the way things are still going. "We're recording it ourselves at the moment," he says. "We're seven tracks in and we haven't needed anyone yet."
The only possible pairing the Ting Tings would confirm is one that makes a lot of sense stylistically. "There is a band called the Tom Tom Club that we love and we already spoke with them," White says. "We know them now and we might do a collaboration."
'Kunst' is expected out this summer.
