Jason Derulo Gets Imogen Heap's Approval for Reinventing 'Hide and Seek'
Imogen Heap's hit song 'Hide and Seek' is known more for its appearances in the second season finale of the teen drama 'The O.C.' and the 'SNL' Digital Short, 'Dear Sister.' However, the song made its return when R&B singer Jason Derulo sampled the track on his smash hit, 'Whatcha Say.'Aside from gaining success and sparking hype around the 20-year-old singer, Derulo also got the thumbs up from Imogen herself. "She told me it's her favorite song," Derulo tells Spinner. "She said that she's happy that 'Hide and Seek' has taken new life and new flight."
According to Derulo, he just picked up Heap's 2005 record 'Speak for Yourself' at a local music store and immediately got hooked on the song. "I fell in love with the song 'Hide and Seek' and I brought it to J.R. [Rotem] who is producing my whole album," Derulo says. "We dibbled and dabbled a little bit, and it just happened to be magical."
Derulo's self-titled debut album is due out on March 2.
