The Killers Cancel Australian Shows 'Due to Illness'

The Killers have cancelled some of their upcoming live shows in Australia "due to the severity of the illness of a close family member," it was announced on Thursday (Feb. 11).

The band's shows at the Sydney Enmore venue on Friday Feb. 12 and at this weekend's Good Vibrations festival -- in Sydney on Feb. 13 and Perth on Feb. 14 -- have all been pulled.

In a statement, the band, fronted by Brandon Flowers (pictured), said, "The Killers had hoped that the Australian leg of their current world tour would be completed as planned, but due to the severity of the illness of a close family member, they regretfully announce the cancellation of their Sydney Enmore show as well as their shows at Good Vibrations Festival."

The Las Vegas-based band expect to be able to perform at the Gold Coast and Melbourne Good Vibration festival shows on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21 respectively.

Today's statement continues "The band apologises to their Australian fans and asks for their understanding."

The band also deny rumours they are planning to go on hiatus, assuring fans "that any concerns about the future of the band are unfounded, they are all looking forward to some time off at the end of this tour as they have been on the road for a long time."
