Bestival Announces the XX and Fever Ray Exclusives

Bestival organisers have announced a flurry of exclusives for this September's extravaganza, in the additions of the XX and Fever Ray. As previously announced on Spinner, the bands will join a line up which also includes rare appearances from Gil Scott-Heron and LCD Soundsystem. Fever Ray's inclusion will be the only UK Festival appearance of the Karin Dreijer Andersson-fronted group which promises to be a visual highlight of the weekend.
Not to be outdone, it was also revealed that the XX would be bringing along recent audio art 'xx: a Sculpture of the Album', created by young video director Saam Farahmand, for its only festival outing. The sculpture will be hosted in the festival's dedicated cinema tent from Sep. 9-12, and consists of three units combining light, sound and film, providing fans with an alternative take on one of last year's most lauded releases.
The 3D installation was originally on display in London's the Vinyl Factory earlier this year for a limited run between Jan. 8 and 12. The XX are heading to the Isle of Wight bash for one of only three festival performances scheduled.
Rob Da Bank also said today that 2010 would see a "solid gold techno deity if ever there was one", speaking of Richie Hawtin's Plastikman Live also joining the late night bill. More acts are still to be announced for the seventh Bestival, as well as the fancy dress theme for 2010.
