Lily Allen Taking 'Time Off' From Music Despite Brits Win
- Posted on Feb 17th 2010 6:06AM by Barnaby Smith
Following her Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist, Lily Allen has revealed that she will take an indefinite break from music in order to concentrate on her record label. Allen beat off competition from Florence and the Machine, Bat For Lashes, Pixie Lott and Leona Lewis to take her first ever Brit Award, but that will, it seems, be it for the Londoner for the time being.
"I'm not making another album right now," Allen said at the Earls Court event last night (Feb. 16), "which is what people usually at this point in an album cycle would be thinking abou t... I'm having some time off."
As for her reasons, she said, "I just don't really want to go on the road for another three years."
Allen is in the early stages of setting up her own record label. "I'm in my office, I've got people working with me and we're making progress," she said.
Allen expressed little concern for the plight of her erstwhile label Parlophone, who operate under the umbrella of cash-strapped EMI.
"I imagine it's quite worrying for them," she said. "I personally am leaving so I don't really mind. I'm just not making another album for a while. I'm moving on to pastures new so record sales and stuff aren't really bothering me right now."

Lilly Allen is a great singer! I love how honest her music is and she has a very good voice. If you comment on her negatively, you're probably not into that kind of music (so you shouldn't be wasting our time with your comment). I've never seen her on TV, so I really only know who she is by her music and her songs are all different but great!

Or I'll just get a beer and a sandwich and watch TV.
