The Killers' Brandon Flowers' Mother Dies
- Posted on Feb 17th 2010 8:30AM by Barnaby Smith
The Killers' Brandon Flowers is reportedly mourning the death of his mother, Jean, who, according to online reports, passed away last Thursday (Feb. 11).In the past month, the Las Vegas band cancelled shows in both Asia and Australia, citing "the severity of the illness of a close family member." Jean Flowers was 64 and had been suffering from brain cancer, which she was diagnosed with in 2008, reports said.
Flowers has not yet made a public statement regarding his mother's death, though the news has been reported on several music websites, and an obituary of Mrs Flowers has been posted online. Services were scheduled for this week in Flowers' home town of Henderson, Nevada.
The Killers have previously suggested that after these Asian and Australian shows, the band will be taking a break from recording and touring in order to spend more time with their families. The cancelled shows also fueled speculation the band might be on the verge of breaking up, prior to the reason for the aborted tour being made public.

February 17 2010 at 7:30 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyApparently people are misled about my previous post. I was the third person to comment. The first two posts are gone (go figure).
Both comments were like "who" or "never heard of them" which is why I was complaining, but looking back, without the other posts it looks like Im just talking smack.
I really like the killers.
We will never know if you have read all the comments you have received. Believe in the heartfelt
journey. Your mother is the torch, you are the light.
I feel your sadness, we all do. Embrace yourself with
every fiber of her goodness..Take it on!!!

I am so sorry about the loss of your mother, Brandon. My mother passed away October 30, 2009 of brain cancer.
I know that at this time NOTHING that anyone says can make it any easier or make you feel any better. But it helped me a bit to know that my mom was no longer suffering through this horrific illness and was now free from the pain and discomfort. I'm sure she's watching you right now and is very proud of your talents.
My deepest sympathies are with you and your family at this time.
So sorry you lost your Mom. Lost mine last April to cancer as well. We simply must find a cure for all cancers. I don't think you are splitting up, but if you are considering it, please put the brakes on. You have many adoring fans and you can use this pain as a springboard. I'm sure your Mom was so proud of you and all the guys.
A fan.
