Toronto's Broken Social Scene have revealed their highly-anticipated forthcoming disc will be titled 'Forgiveness Rock Record.' The new album, which is the first release from the acclaimed indie rockers since 2005, will be available on May 4 via Arts & Crafts. Fans can download the first song from the new album, 'World Sick,' from the outfit's website.
News of the collective's fifth album, which features cameos by members of Pavement, Tortoise and Death From Above 1979, began to circulate earlier this month. Founding members Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning, as well as Andrew Whiteman, have taken up the reigns once again, enlisting the talents of members of both Stars and Metric, as well as Jason Collett and Canada's favourite chanteuse, Feist.
The new disc is co-produced by Broken Social Scene and Tortoise's John McEntire, and was recorded at Chicago's Soma Studios, with additional work done at Giant Studio and The Schvitz Studio in the band's hometown.
The band will perform at the SXSW festival in Austin, TX, next month, as well as the Sasquatch Festival in George, WA in May. Their remaining U.S. dates are currently sold out. They head back to Toronto in June.
