Shaun White Dishes on His Olympic Playlist
- Posted on Feb 19th 2010 3:20PM by Kim Davis
"I love playing the Darkness [on guitar]," Shaun White tells Spinner. White is fresh off a win at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where he made quick work of the Men's Halfpipe on Wednesday, marking his second consecutive Gold in the event. "That song, 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love' ... it's the only song I've taken the time to go through," he explains. "That's my go-to jam." Turns out that in addition to being the world's best snowboarder, White's also got a crush on rock n' roll. "I've always liked music," he recalls, saying that AC/DC and Guns N' Roses get him pretty pumped up during competition. "I once competed in a snowboarding event where I won a guitar ... I picked it up and I couldn't put it down." Before he knew it, he was playing three or four hours a day. Then there's his iPod. He has it with him at all times (yes, even on the slopes) and lets it play through the speakers.
White also tells us about a recent Wolfmother concert he saw in Los Angeles. "Andrew Stockdale is a really cool guy," he says of the Australia rockers' perfectly 'froed frontman. "It's unreal how much noise comes out [of that band]." But he's open to other genres, too, citing country trio Rascal Flatts' 'Unstoppable' as one of his recent favorite songs.
So what's next for the 23-year-old sensation? "Oprah," he says, as he's in Chicago just two days after landing his signature "Tomahawk" on the halfpipe. "I guess she wanted me to be on the show today." But then, some fun -- maybe even Coachella. "I'll put my hair up, wear some shades and sneak through." Good luck with that, Shaun.

Margaret and ET, for your information here is the definition of 'sport' and these olympic activities are clearly described within: A sport is commonly defined as an organized, competitive, and skillful physical activity requiring commitment and fair play. It is governed by a set of rules or customs. In a sport the key factors are the physical capabilities and skills of the competitor when determining the outcome (winning or losing). The physical activity involves the movement of people.. What do you not understand?? Next time try Wikipedia, it's easy enough for even the two of you.

February 22 2010 at 8:33 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyShaun is a personable, articulate man who has been given multiple gifts in his persona and he runs with them.
One can complain that what he does is not olympic in naure but it seems you forgot to notify the Olympic Committee of this ruling.
Jealousy will get you nowhere; moreover;
"EMPTY BARRELS MAKE THE MOST NOISE".
Shaun White is brilliant... all of him; including his hair.
Peace, Shaun and CONGRATULATIONS on your well earned medals. All the best.
Thank you roni, well said, articulate, and represents the feelings of most well educated USA citizens who would prefer to press 1 for "American" than for English.
