Scott Hardkiss Brings 'Underwater Ball' to NYC

Hardkiss played alongside Stevvi Alexander and Bobby Harden, guitarist J Bowman and drummer Guy Licata to form Scott Hardkiss and the Technicolor Dreamer Band. Indie singer Britta Phillips, who collaborated with Hardkiss on his 2009 debut album 'Technicolor Dreamer,' also joined the band for this one-off performance before touring Australia with Dean and Britta this week.
Playing funky disco tracks like 'What We Got' and 'Hey Deejay!' the show quickly turned into one big dance party. Hardkiss shows off his singing and rapping skills but couldn't help distorting his voice slightly -- showing that Hardkiss has more than one vocal personality.
Hardkiss didn't hold back his humorous side with the electronic track, 'Star Power,' which talks about just how big of a star he is. "I want people to know that [Star Power is] supposed to be funny," he told the crowd. "It's satire people. It's ironic. I'm not really rich or famous."
Of course, the show wouldn't be a true underwater ball without Hardkiss and the Technicolor Dream band playing the song that inspired the event. Complete with toy guns blowing bubbles throughout the room, Hardkiss rapped -- in his deep Barry White tone -- about being a young man who happened to stumble into an undersea party and falls for a mermaid. Leave it to Hardkiss to get everyone on their feet but also get a laugh or two out of them as well.

This show was so original and so much fun.. one of the coolest I've seen in a long time! And the DJ sets were all amazing, too. Different from what I expected but it was mad creative. Me and my friends loved it!
