In the days and weeks since Haiti experienced the devastating earthquake that shook and rattled the whole world into an outpouring of support, it is good to know that the music community hasn't assumed that they did their part already, what with all the benefit concerts and fund raisers that took place last month. The latest? An impressive list of indie artists -- including Beck (pictured), Vampire Weekend and Julian Casablancas -- will appear on a compilation album entitled 'Hear to Help.'The album, which will be distributed through American Eagle Outfitters in partnership with Filter Magazine, features Grizzly Bear covering Hot Chip's 'Boy From School,' Of Montreal covering Franz Ferdinand's 'Take Me Out' (live) and Snow Patrol's take on 'You Will. You? Will. You? Will. You? Will.' by Bright Eyes. It also includes remixes of songs by Air, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Noah and the Whale, Surfer Blood and others.
All of the proceeds -- that's 100 percent of the $10 you slap down for it -- will go directly to Oxfam America to help fund their continuing relief efforts in Haiti. 'Hear to Help' is available now until March 19 at all 938 American Eagle stores across North America. If making a trip to the mall just isn't your thing, you can always order online at American Eagle Outfitters' web store -- but then you'll miss out soft pretzels and all those random ornament kiosks. Your call.
