On Tuesday evening, a jury found Natavia S. Lowery guilty of second-degree murder for bludgeoning one-time Ramones manager Linda Stein to death on October 30, 2007 in Stein's Manhattan apartment. Following her employment with the Ramones (pictured), Stein became a celebrity real estate broker and counted Madonna, Billy Joel, Sting and Angelina Jolie as clients. Lowery, age 28, was Stein's personal assistant at the time. The prosecution claimed that Lowery bludgeoned 62-year-old Stein to death with a piece of exercise equipment after Stein found out that she had been stealing from her. Lowery had previously been arrested for identity theft and fired from a church for embezzlement.
The Associated Press reports that Lowery, who had initially maintained her innocence, eventually confessed, saying that she committed the murder after Stein complained about her work habits and blew marijuana smoke in her face. There were no traces of marijuana found in Stein's body after her death.
