All Points West 2010 May Not Happen

Don't count on a third annual All Points West festival this summer. While the 2009 event, which counted Jay-Z, Tool and Coldplay as headliners, seemed like a success despite the heavy rains, executives at AEG Live have told the New York Times that they still haven't decided on whether the event will return to New Jersey's Liberty State Park in Jersey City."There is no question that our biggest challenge is finding suitable headliners, and it has been more challenging this year than in the past," AEG talent buyer Mark Shulman told the Times. "No final determination of any kind has been made for 2010."
With festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo already revealing their lineups, things are looking iffy for a similar event in the New York Tri-State area this year. According to the Times, industry insiders that spoke anonymously revealed that there have been no artists booked.
Based on the notion that most major acts already have their touring itineraries in place by this point in the year, it seems impossible an event could get off the ground at this stage, unless promoters were considering bumping it to a weekend in September or October.
One insider who did go on the record, Frank Riley of High Road Touring, which represents Wilco and Ryan Adams, told the paper, "Without a clear headliner in place at this point, it seems unlikely that the festival will take place in August 2010."
