Paul Weller Talks Reunions And Collaborations Ahead of Award

After years of refusing to entertain the idea of reviving long gone mods the Jam, Paul Weller has spoken of how he and former bassist Bruce Foxton came to work together for the first time since 1982 on the Modfather's new album, 'Wake Up The Nation.'"A bit of dialogue opened up between us two, just through various other personal things that have gone on in our lives, but it just sort of felt right," he told BBC 6 Music's Andrew Collins.
"Because of the fact that we had started talking and were in touch and that, I thought it was an honour to have us getting together to make a bit of music, which always levels everyone out really," he continued.
Speaking of the recording session, Weller said, "It was a nice day, we had fun. We had a laugh and it was nice and easy, there wasn't too much pressure on anyone I don't think."
Weller's new album -- his 10th studio solo album -- is set to feature other guest artists including My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields, ELO drummer Bev Bevan and Primal Scream's Little Barrie.
As previously reported on Spinner, Paul Weller is set to receive the Godlike Genius honour at Wednesday's (Feb. 24) NME Awards, something that he's pleased to receive.
"It's a bit tongue in cheek anyway but I'm very flattered to be off with it," he said.
