Mancunian band Doves have unveiled the tracklisting for a compilation set due for release Apr. 5 on Heavenly Recordings.Titled 'The Places Between: The Best Of Doves,' the compilation is set to be available as a single CD and double-disc package with DVD. Sequenced by band members Jimi Goodwin and brothers Jez and Andy Williams, the 15-track 'Best Of' disc features well-known tracks such as top three hit 'There Goes The Fear' alongside an unreleased number, the forthcoming single 'Andalucia.'
Disc two focuses on rarities, B-sides and alternate versions. Among the 19 tracks are a further pair of new recordings -- 'Blue Water' and 'Drifter', which features Simon Aldred, frontman of Bolton-based outfit Cherry Ghost. The DVD features promo videos for Doves' singles to date.
Doves started out as dance outfit Sub Sub before radically reinventing themselves as a guitar-based trio. Over the past 12 years, they have released four albums, including chart toppers 'The Last Broadcast' and 'Some Cities,' that combined pop melodies with propulsive dynamics familiar from their house production days. 'The Places Between' follows a year after the release of their latest studio album 'Kingdom Of Rust,' which reached number two in the UK album charts.
