Muse and Kasabian Winners at NME Awards

Muse and Kasabian received two awards each at Wednesday night's (Feb. 24) Shockwaves NME Awards held at the 02 Academy Brixton in London.Muse took the Best British Band award plus Best Website for Muse.mu -- singer Matt Bellamy was also named Hottest Man. Kasabian, meanwhile, picked up Best Album for 'West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum' along with the Best Album Artwork award.
Paul Weller was on hand to receive his Godlike Genius award and performed live, as did the Specials, who were honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Music gong.
Paramore fought off the likes of Vampire Weekend, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Kings of Leon to win Best International Band, while Best New Band went to Londoners Bombay Bicycle Club. Paramore's victory was met with a chorus of boos from the crowd at the event.
Jamie T resisted the considerable challenge of Dizzee Rascal for Best Solo Artist, with Arctic Monkeys winning Best Live Band -- their only victory despite being nominated for six awards. The Big Pink, who performed on the night accompanied by Lily Allen, won Best Track for 'Dominos', with Biffy Clyro taking Best Video for 'The Captain.'
NME marked the bad as well as the good, of course, with the Jonas Brothers taking the Worst Album prize for 'Lines Vines Trying Times' and JLS given the accolade of Worst Band.
