Shane MacGowan and Friends Release Video of Haiti Benefit Single

As previously reported, Pogues singer Shane MacGowan enlisted a group of alt-rock musicians -- and one famous actor -- to record Screamin' Jay Hawkins' 1956 hit, 'I Put a Spell on You,' to raise relief money for Haiti. Now MacGowan and Concern.net have released a music video documenting what went on during the song's recording process.

Opening with some footage of the devastation in Haiti, the song starts with MacGowan hobbling out of a van and heading into the studio with clips of Nick Cave and Eliza Doolittle. The video also features Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie, the Sex Pistols' Glen Matlock, Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders and singer Paloma Faith along with Cave and Doolittle singing in a London studio while James Walbourne and the Clash's Mick Jones (who also "played" a fire extinguisher) were on guitar. Actor Johnny Depp also makes a cameo and even plays a guitar solo, which he recorded and filmed in Los Angeles.

The new version of 'I Put a Spell on You' will be available via digital release on March 7 but can be pre-ordered from 7 digital. Proceeds from single sales will go to Dublin's Concern Worldwide, which has been aiding Haiti for 16 years. Check out the video below.
