Blosil had suffered from a "lifelong battle with depression," according to ET, and left a suicide note in which he said he felt he "had no friends and would never fit in." He was treated at a rehab facility in 2007, according to AP, but the nature of the visit is not known.
Blosil, whom Osmond adopted with now ex-husband Brian Blosil, was one of Osmond's five adopted children. She has two children with Blosil and one with ex-husband Stephen Craig. Osmond and Blosil divorced in 2007 after 21 years of marriage.
Osmond released a statement through her publicist Saturday, saying, " My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time."
Blosil's uncle Donny Osmond spoke with ET Online on Saturday, saying, "Please pray for my sister and her family."
Donny, who rose to fame with his brothers as the Osmonds, currently performs with Marie in an act called 'Donny & Marie' at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. Marie and Donny found considerable success after the Osmond group ended its run in the mid-'70s, starring together in the variety TV show 'The Donny and Marie Show,' which aired from 1976 to 1979. They also revived the show in a talk show format from 1998 to 2000.
Donny and Marie's Saturday night show has been canceled, according to the Los Angeles Times.
