Alison Goldfrapp Admits 'Ambiguous' Sexuality
- Posted on Mar 1st 2010 7:10AM by Matt Glazebrook
We'd barely got over that creepy-sexy horses' tail and hotpants combo she used to wear on stage... Turns out the equine accessories aren't the only things that swing both ways when it comes to Alison Goldfrapp. The Goldfrapp frontwoman -- basically the closest thing in pop to a sexy robot from a 1960s sci-fi movie -- has spoken about her sexual attraction to humans after a newspaper unexpectedly outed her back in December. "That was a bit of a shocker actually, because obviously I didn't know anything about it all," she told the Times. "A friend texted me, 'Oh, there's a really nice picture of you and [girlfriend] Lisa [Gurning] in this magazine.' I was like: 'What picture? Where? Really? Hold on a minute...'"
Not that the 'Strict Machine' singer -- whose new album 'Head First' is released on Mar. 22 -- is anything as conventional as a lesbian. "Everything we've ever done -- the music, the looks, the shows -- has all been quite ambiguous and undefinable, and that's how I am," she explained. "I don't like to be defined by my sexuality, which swings wherever I like to swing. I've had lovely, long relationships with men as well. I just happen to be in a relationship with a lady at the moment".
Guys, girls and androids. Lucky us.
