Hall and Oates Bassist Tom 'T-Bone' Wolk Dead at 58

T-Bone Wolk, who played bass with Hall and Oates on their many hits in the early 1980s, died Saturday of a heart attack, according to the Huffington Post. Born Thomas Wolk, the musician -- who was also a regular alongside guitarist G.E. Smith in the 'Saturday Night Live' band for years -- was 58 years old.

Wolk began playing with Daryl Hall and John Oates during the recording of their chart-topping 'Private Eyes' album in 1981 and went on to become the group's musical director. T-Bone first earned the duo's attention for his efforts on Kurtis Blow's gold-certified rap single 'These Are the Breaks' earlier in that year.

A multi-instrumentalist, Wolk also played guitar and accordion and worked with the likes of Billy Joel, Robert Palmer, Paul Carrack, Cyndi Lauper, Jellyfish, Elvis Costello and Shawn Colvin, among others, in his accomplished career. As a producer, the New York native also worked with Willie Nile on 1991's 'Places I Have Never Been.'

Wolk continued to perform actively up until his death, playing with Hall and Oates during promotional efforts for their box set 'Do What You Want, Be What You Are.' He also played with Hall for his series of online performances known as 'Live From Daryl's House.'

Wow, I just got turned onto the acoustic version, "Do It For Love" from Daryl's You Tubes and became mesmerized by the organic-ness of 4 guitars, 4 voices in one small room harmonizing one hell-uv-a love song. The vibe that was caught in that room at that moment was just amazing. And through my reading down the comments noticed someone writing RIP T-Bone. I'm like no, no, no!
Love this song and will keep it close to my heart, remembering T-Bone for an inspiring performance that touched me deeply.
My condolences to Fans, Family and Friends.

T-Bone Steaks

This recipe is an Asian-flavored T bone steak, especially with the sweet soy sauce and green onion based sauce. I love how tender the steak is because of the time spent pounding out the meat.

What a strong soul brother to have on the journey. I've seen nearly all the shows from Daryls house on the web, and looked forward to each one because this talented and supportive musical partner was there. We must welcome the new, and see the ones who passed before in the faces of those coming now. Johnny Cash once called Tom Petty a good companion on life's journey. Tom remarked that he never dreamed he would get a compliment like that from anyone. T- Bone was a good companion like that.

I am a young guy at 25 years old and people think it is sad that my favorite band of all time is hall & oates. I went to the nokia theatre event a few months ago and saw the whole gang playing. It was one of the best concerts i ever been to and I am sad to see T-bone go. He put the most emphasis in his music with his awesome dance moves and following the sounds of his own bass. He was inspirational how he could follow his own sound on that stage.

I had the pleasure of working with T-Bone...what a great guy and a true musician. He didn't make me feel star struck b/c that was how he was....very humble and easy to be around. I am sooo sad to hear!

So very sorry to hear about T-Bone. He was great fun to watch at LFDH. I especially enjoyed his turn at the vocal lead on The Weight--but then everything he did was great.

I received my monthly cue for "Live At Daryl's House" and was stunned to read "T Bone" Wolk had passed on.
I will truly miss that big smile T Bone always had beaming while he was playing, listening to a story or reminiscing about shows past. Always a bright light watching the show at Live At Daryl's House....I'm really gonna miss him. And I just got to know him 6 months ago. Appeared to be Daryl's pal too..So Peace to you Daryl...Thinking of the whole group right now!!
