Pivot Interview: SXSW 2010

In Pivot's cover of Grizzly Bear's 'Colorado,' the song asks, "What now? What now?" Pivot's answer to that question is a small American tour leading up to SXSW this month and then a new album coming out in June. So, with that question taken care of, we thought we'd ask Pivot's Dave Miller a few of our own.

What's your biggest vice?

I don't know; I don't do things that are bad for my body. Can we pass this question? I guess it could be too much time surfing the internet.

What's in your festival survival kit?

As much sleep as possible the night before, good friends and someone in charge [of logistics] who is not me.

Who was your first celeb crush?

Wynona Rider.

What's your musical guilty pleasure?

Not ashamed of anything I listen to really.

You mean if you were in a super quiet library and your headphones came unplugged from your computer and it was really loud, there's not a single song that you would be embarrassed to have blasting through the quiet library?

Nope.

Beatles or Stones?

Beatles.

What's the craziest thing you've seen or experienced while on tour?

It may not be the "craziest," but I was electrocuted on stage in France during a sound check.

Tell me about your new album that is coming out in June.

We finished it late last year. We recorded it in bits and pieces between touring. Because of so many shows, it is a far more live record, like three guys in a room than a studio experiment. In some ways it sounds very live, where you leave mistakes in. It sounds very human.
