- Posted on Mar 4th 2010 7:10AM by Tom Davenport
The Charlatans will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their chart topping album 'Some Friendly' with a set of live performances and the release of an expanded edition, due May 17.The album was released in 1990, an era when alternative British music was undergoing a renaissance with the 'Madchester' culture. The band weren't entirely happy with the album themselves, with singer Tim Burgess stating that some songs were included "just to make up the numbers." Regardless, the public warmed to it and it gained a classic status after reaching the number one slot on the UK album chart.
The celebratory live shows at the Primavera Festival and London's Roundhouse to coincide with the re-issue will include a full live album performance. The CD, now with the original vinyl track order, has been remastered and will include a second disc of singles and their complete BBC sessions.
