Belle and Sebastian Ending Four-Year Hiatus

Belle and SebastianAfter four years of silence, Glasgow indie favorites Belle and Sebastian are returning to active duty. According to Exclaim, the Stuart Murdoch-fronted collective sent an e-mail to fans this week announcing it will follow up 2006's 'The Life Pursuit' with a new studio album.

The band says it has new material ready and intends to fly to Los Angeles soon to record an album, which is presumably due later this year. If word of Belle and Sebastian's eighth studio set isn't enough for salivating fans, there are also plans for a handful of festival dates this summer.

Of course, those of us who aren't based in Japan or Scandinavia will have to hope for the confirmation of additional tour dates. If B&S follow tradition, they will likely support their forthcoming recording with excursions through Europe and North America.

In the meantime, the three confirmed dates are as follows:

July 11, Tuku, Finland -- Ruisrock Festival
July 15, Tønsberg, Norway -- Slottsfjell Festival
August 1, Niigata, Japan -- Fuji Rock Festival

They are possibly the greatest thing of all time in my opinion and I wouldn't be without them. Sorry that you have never heard of them. You need to discover bands like theirs yourself. They're not easy. So best you just leave it at this judging by....ahem. Nothing.

My God! Has it been four years???? Goodness, how time flys. I didn't even miss them, let alone ever heard of them. I knw this had to be another one of those stories about a band or musician nobody has ever heard of that is a staple of AOL new reporting. Hey AOL! You suck!

Yeah right....MONEY IS EVIL!!!!!!!!No SOME PEOPLE ARE EVIL!!!! Never heard of this band either,but maybe someday we all willn one day give us a break with all the negative stuff
