Three years on from the release of her debut album, 'Made Of Bricks,' and Kate Nash has revealed that the name of her forthcoming second album is 'My Best Friend Is You.'Produced by former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, the album is set to see the light of day on Apr. 19 and will be preceded by a the single, 'Doo Wah Do,' a week earlier on Apr. 12.
Nash has been working on the album since last year and is understood to have joined forces with Bernard Butler in June 2009. The new material is said to be a departure from Nash's trademark DIY sound to being influenced by girl groups, something that Nash puts down to maturity.
Earlier this year, she told Spin, "I've grown up a lot. When I first got involved in music, I thought about music differently. You know, music is so much more than one good song -- a band has to mean something.
"I really thought about that this time. 'Sixties girl groups, Riot Grrrl rock, and punk and various others influence me. So, my influences have changed, too, definitely."
Nash has also given fans a little taste of the new material by posting demo versions of 'Kiss That Grrrl,' 'Take Me To A Higher Plane' and the title track on her MySpace page. She'll also be previewing the new songs on a tour of intimate venues that calls at:
Glasgow Classic Grand (Mar. 6)
Leeds Brudenell Social Club (Mar. 7)
Brighton Komedia (Mar. 8)
London Bethnal Green Working Men's Club (Mar. 11)
