Gene Simmons Entertained by Gallagher Feud

In an interview with U.K. radio station XFM Saturday, Kiss bassist Gene Simmons opined on the state of British rock, giving a shoutout to bands including the Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand and Keane. But as far as the "most interesting" musicians in Britain, Simmons said he'd have to go with Liam and Noel Gallagher, who bring something entertaining to a music scene otherwise void of "stars."

Simmons "loves" the Arctic Monkeys, but says of most British musicians, "I don't care what they do, who they're s---ing, where they live ... they're not interesting people. The most interesting people to me are the Gallagher brothers. The interesting thing about them is they're drug addicts and alcoholics and they fight with each other. That's really it."

The Oasis brothers are currently pursuing projects separately, but are certainly keeping fans including Simmons entertained with their ongoing spats, which came to a head last summer when Noel walked out on the band after an argument with Liam backstage at a festival in France.

Rumors that Oasis was finished circulated, with both brothers fanning the flames in the press. In November Liam clarified that the band would go on without Noel, who apparently "wanted out."

"We had an argument -- but we've had bigger ones, about more important people," Liam said at the time. "Basically, I think [Noel] wanted out, wanted something different, but he hadn't got the bollocks to tell the band or the fans."

Oasis is currently working under the name Oasis 2.0, and plans to release a new album this year. Meanwhile, Noel is preparing for solo spots on Mar. 25 and 26 at London's Royal Albert Hall as part of a series benefiting the Teenage Cancer Trust. The shows will be his first solo performances since leaving Oasis.

I'd find GENE SIMMONS much more interesting if he'd marry that woman he's been shacked up with for so long.

Have always loved the the Brits & their music, hate american rap/hiphop. Though I have to admit, I haven't kept up with what is current. Guess I have a life.

Although people do not want to believe it, KISS was a great band and very influential in its time. For the people who do not like Gene Simmons, well he is a dick sometimes and says stupid things but he deserves to say it.

Just because Kiss was influential "in it's time", that doesn't mean it was a GOOD influence, and as a teenager in that era, I was not impressed by the cheesy costumes and hype that surrounded these cartoon characters...which spawned a whole genre of cheesy posers...blech! Oasis, i think they're more of a legend in their own minds than to the general public. Another band that didn't live up to the hype because they can't seem to get out of their own way.

Kiss is a joke, and I've never understood why people are remotely interested in anything Gene Simmons has to say.

Compare the British music scene of now vs. the British music scene of the 60's. Granted there probably will never be anything like the original British invasion ever again, but it's amazing how bad music from over the pond has become.

travis, franz ferdinand, the kooks, coldpaly, arctic monkeys and especially radiohead all great bands from the uk. radiohead is only the single greatest band since the beatles. quit just listening to radio or the same records youve heard for past 20 years and you will discover new great music. im all for the classics also. but man there is great music if you know how to find it
