Tom Morello Scoring 'Iron Man 2'

Tom MorelloRage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello has announced that he is scoring 'Iron Man 2.' Over the weekend, Morello confirmed that he is working with composer John Debney on the metal-driven music for the blockbuster's sequel.

"Is that really me in 'Iron Man'?" Morello wrote on Twitter. "Of course. 'Iron Man' kicks my ass. I'm working on score for 'Iron Man 2'. Rockin', movie is awesome."

It's still unclear if Morello -- who also helped with the score of the first film and had a cameo as a terrorist -- will get another onscreen moment. But the news comes on the heels of Marvel Studios' earlier announcement that there will be an 'Iron Man 2: AC/DC' soundtrack to accompany the film, which opens May 7.

The movie will feature 15 of the Australian hard rock giants' best songs, the closest approximation to a greatest hits compilation AC/DC has ever released. In addition to Robert Downey, Jr., who stars in the lead, the movie will also feature Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow and Mickey Rourke.

Look... You may not like Rage Against the Machine or Tom Morello's music, but that doesn't mean he isn't talented enough to create a score for a movie. He has won a grammy, he has collaborated with Bruce Springsteen, Slash, Perry Ferrel, Cypress Hill, Wu Tang Clan and many others... He is obviously very capable of creating awesome music based on his bands record sales and thousands of sold out shows throughout the years. You don't have to like him... But that doesn't mean he sucks. Also... Rage Against the Machine won a grammy in the "Metal" category for the song "Tire Me". It may not be METAL as in Bullet for My Valentine, but it is Metal regardless if you like it or not. So learn a thing a or two about an artist before you start hating on their work and achievements. In other words... You are a fucking idiot.

There is only one "Iron Man"....Ozzy! You can immitate but you can not duplicate or even come close. The movie will nose dive.

Ozzy never wrote anything in his life ... the real Iron Man is the man who wrote the riff, guitarist Tony Iommi, and he's the one who should be scoring the film

I am very happy to see Morello working on the Iron Man 2 score. I love all of his work! He is a personal hero of mine. From his guitarist work to his activist efforts! He is amazingly talented in just about everything he does.

grammys mean nothing. when it comes to the "metal" category the only thing that matters is the wow factor of the band. Like the most recent grammys, judas priest won for a song they recorded back in the 70’s. so the grammys have no credibility in the “metal” genre. And I don’t have to learn anything about an artist before I decide if I like them or not. I listen and decide then if I like or not. every time I hear rage come on sat radio it’s rap and/or funk. Not my thing, that’s all. So just because I don’t share your same opinions on a few things doesn’t make me an f’ing ahole. Chill out, the britney comment was a joke anyways. I thought that was obvious but guess I was wrong. dieses Gespräch ist über

I agree with Casi, Ozzy should be the one to do the score or even get Black Sabbath together again for the one shot reunion. And it doesn't matter if Ozzy wrote any of his music or not. The fact that he can still belt it out is good enough for me. Ozzy rules all.

Why is everybody saying Ozzy should score the movie? Because of the Iron Man song? I don't know if any of you have actually listened to the lyrics of that song beyond the chorus, but it has nothing to do with the character of Iron Man as portrayed in Marvel comics. Morello has just as much right as anyone to be scoring the film...

For the record everyone, Tom Morello is NOT scoring IRON MAN 2. John Debney, an oscar-nominated composer who's previously worked with director Jon Favreau on ELF and ZATHURA, has composed the score. It features noteworthy musicians like Tom Morello and electric cellist Tina Guo (who's also featured on the recently oscar-nominated score to SHERLOCK HOLMES by Hans Zimmer).

That clear??? He's a featured performer on the score .... but he did NOT compose it.
