Florence and the Machine returns to headline the Obeslisk Arena's opening night -- Friday night (July 16) -- after performing the 'breaking act' Lake stage in 2009. New Yorkers Vampire Weekend will be the festival's closing act on the Obelisk Arena stage on Sunday (July 18).
Other main stage acts announced at the Latitude Festival launch in London on Tuesday (March 9) are Empire of the Sun, the Maccabees and Rodrigo y Gabriela -- who are also upgraded after wowing as second stage headliners in 2007.
Word magazine will this year be hosting the second stage -- a 6,000-capacity arena -- with headline acts the National, the XX and Grizzly Bear, with Charlotte Gainsbourg and the Horrors also booked to appear.
Latitude, now in its fifth year at Henham Park Estate, is also planning big things across the other stages, with legendary punk poet John Cooper Clarke topping the bill in the Poetry Arena and Mark Lamarr bringing back his 'God's Jukebox' sessions in the Music and Film arena.
