Ryan Adams Songs Paid Tribute in a Pizza Parlour

There is possibly a trend developing here. A tasty one. Last week it was reported that a Toronto sandwich shop called Sky Blue Sky was naming each sandwich on its menu after a Wilco song. Now another food vendor, the Sticks and Stones Clay Oven, a pizza restaurant Greenboro, North Carolina is paying homage to erstwhile enfant terrible of country-rock by naming each menu item after a song by Ryan Adams. So a 'New York, New York' is "tomato sauce, Giacomo's sopressata, arugula, fresh mozzarella, pine nuts, fresh basil, parmesan," while 'Rosebud' is a small plate of "warm and fresh herbs with sour dough toast points". Other dishes include the 'Heartbreaker,' 'Rescue Blues.' 'Peaceful Valley' and 'Cherry Lane'. 'Sweet Illusions' is, appropriately enough, ice cream.
Sticks and Stones chef Sandy Blocker said of the menu in 2008, "That came from a combination of the owner and one of the original chefs we had here. They're big fans of Adams; it's just one of those things. People who know Adams' music get the titles, and the people who don't are oblivious."

March 10 2010 at 4:52 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyRyan Adams is a great singer-songwriter, but to call him a "country" singer explains why these folks haven't heard of him. He's as much "country" as Wilco. Hopefully some of the people who have not heard his music will take the time to check him out, now that they have. I've heard some cuts from his new album that are great.
Open your minds a little and try something new. You might be surprised ;-)
Wow this is quite the enlightening thread. Fred, you completely missed my point. Think it through and have a good laugh mate. Bobnoxious, who is giving country a 'good' name?
March 10 2010 at 2:51 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyhe doen't look country at all. he looks geeky to me. these people are giving country music a bad name
March 10 2010 at 2:36 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyTo bobbiejeske: How does one LOOK country? Perhaps long hair, beard, half his teeth missing and uses words like Y'All?? You know a place does NOT have good food when they need a gemic to sell it. Like giving names to things..How the hell does a place in South Carolina think they can sell Pizza by giving it a country name?? Pizza Hut, Domino's Papa Johns to people in South Carolina is considerd FINE DINNING...You want GREAT pizza, come to NYC and we dont even give our food names, We go by taste..........Ok let me go, HEE HAW is about to come on tv, Wait. Question..If Y'all is singular would ALL Y'all be plural????hmmmm dang
