Smashing Pumpkins Auditioning Bassists, Keyboard Players

Billy Corgan has begun open auditions to find a new bassist and keyboard player for the Smashing Pumpkins.

Last week it was announced that bass player since 2007 Ginger Pooley would be quitting the band. Corgan resorted to the same open auditions concept last year when seeking a replacement for departed drummer Jimmy Chamberlain, himself an on-off member of the Pumpkins since he temporarily left the band 1996.

"We were lucky enough to find drummer Mike Byrne through an open auditions process," said Corgan. "So why not open the doors again to anyone who might be interested for the bass or keyboard position?"

He said, "As you can see from our past and present, age, race, or a person's background is not an issue. Everyone is truly welcome to audition."

Any ambitious young things wiling to put up with Corgan's foibles can apply to audition by emailing background information, photos and performance links to PumpkinsBass@gmail.com or PumpkinsKeys@gmail.com, with the deadline being March. 31.

As the search for musicians goes on, the Pumpkins have released the next free song in their 'Teargarden By Kaleidyscope' series, 'A Stitch In Time.'

They didn't want to have to hang out with Jessica Simpson. Total "save yourself" moment I think.

Kind of like when David Spade went to a Fleetwood Mac concert and the band consisted of Mick Fleetwood,2 guys from Los Lobos and a contest winner..why bother..Just hook up with Jessica Simpson and call it a day.

If I only knew how to compress the size of a file to upload the dang music on MySpace there would be a performance link to send in. My friend would be a great fit for an audition.

It would be like playing running back for the Redskins.
Fame and fortune and putting up with the owners never-ending bullshit. Hardly worth it.
