Named after the famous (and mysterious) German foundling Kaspar Hauser, Kaspar are led by two singer-songwriters who play pretty little acoustic numbers. Kaspar have performed live in Finland, Sweden, Switzerland and the US, where the group will play two shows at this year's SXSW. Spinner spoke to Kaspar's Mikael Hakkarainen as his band made preparations for its upcoming trip to Austin, Texas.Describe your sound in your own words.
Beauty with rhythm and deep bass.
How did your band form?
John and Mikael wanted to celebrate the story of Kaspar Hauser.
What are your musical influences?
Anything with nice harmonies, great drumming, intuition, emotion and originality.
How did you come up with your band name?
Kaspar Hauser gave it to us.
What's your biggest vice?
Bad jokes.
What's in your festival survival kit?
A map.
Who was your first celeb crush?
Kekkonen.
What's your musical guilty pleasure?
Banjo.
Beatles or Stones?
Passing Stones.
What's the craziest thing you've seen or experienced while on tour?
It's always as crazy in a nice, mellow way.
