Kiss Dare U2 and the Rolling Stones to a Stadium Contest

Never one to shy away from saying, well, anything, Gene Simmons has called out U2 and the Rolling Stones. Speaking on XFM Radio in the UK, the Tongued One said that he and Kiss would crush Mick Jagger and Bono in a stadium duel.

"I would love to play on the same stage as U2, the Stones and anybody out there who considers themself a world champion," challenged Simmons. "You come on up on that stage with us, baby. Show me what you got, and then we'll show you what the big boys do."

While the likelihood of such an event seems doubtful, Kiss has arguably out-dueled the competition when it comes to licensing, recently lending its name and likeness to M&M's and Dr. Pepper. Now the men behind the make-up -- Simmons and his Kiss co-founder Paul Stanley -- are readying their own children's show.

Little else is known about the Kiss-sanctioned kids program, which the band announced Tuesday was in development with Canadian production company E1 Television. Simmons and Stanley will serve as executive producers of the yet-to-be-titled half-hour series, which they hope will expose the group to a new generation of consumers, er, fans.

how ******* sad & pathetic you are Gene Simmons. what bands were YOU listening to, dreaming of being like, when you formed Kiss? Ummm, let's take a WILD guess: The Beatles & The Rolling Stones. you were nothing BEFORE the Stones, you were nothing DURING the Stones, and you will be nothing LONG AFTER the Stones depart this worldly stage. BTW have the Stones EVER covered a Kiss song? NO! lol Has Kiss ever covered a Stones song? um, YEAH. As far as U2 goes, well they have released some of the most critically AND commercially successful records in the last 25 years, while NONE of Kiss records could even claim a fourth of the critical or commercial success of U2. STFU Gene Simmons you fat, ugly-assed, no-talent, bass-playing ability of a 4th grader fool!

Gene and Kiss need U2 and The Stones to sell tickets. If KISS were such a great band, they'd still be together and could sellout their own stadium gigs without help from U2 and The Stones. U2 and The Stones sellout or fill most of the stadiums they play. Wasn't it last year that Mick was onstage with U2 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert.....while Gene was home working on whatever novelty he can think of to make some money. I like Gene because he's a good family man.

They are not real musicians. Gene, be carefull with what you say. Comments come back at you. Stop using your band to make money off credit cards, ect. You are all TALK NO TALENT! I was around in the 80's, Kiss could not keep up with the bands back in that generation. Stop insulting the REAL BANDS! PLEASE RETIRE!

I saw KISS in Minneapolis last Oct. (full house BTW) and there is no stopping these guys right now! U2 wouldn't stand a chance, maybe The Stone would with their classic songs, but on over-all presentation...KISS RULES!

The sad fact is, and no matter how much people try to belittle them.....when it comes to a live show, and what rock & roll is all about.....there is only one!!! Eat you heart out........."You wanted the best, you got the best. The hottest band in the world....KISS!!

a 'play off'? does GENE even play a musical instrument? not! look, the Simmons money machine is nothing more than a big fraud on consumers. Gene likes his lifestyle and loves his money. if money were s%#t, Gene would stink to high heaven 200 years after he died! and why in hell would legit bands even bite at such an enormously ridiculous sham like that? they wouldn't, that's the point. KISS is not a rock band, they're a bunch of looney juvenile idiots with mascara who i'd love to see on 'survivor', on an island as far away from civilization as possible. they are a joke, and GENE apparently loves to make a mockery of those musician's who actually have talent, not glitzy, loud, fire-breathing, tongue wagging misguided nuts like himself. ....and GENE, what the hell does your wife do all day while your off clowing around in your clown make-up?

I thought Kiss was pretty good, when Adam Lambert sang with them on the American Idol finale...otherwise they kind of sucked. On second thought...Adam was way better without Kiss. U2 is the best band EVER end of story, and the Stones are cool too. Sorry Kiss, you were kinda cool in the 70's but you have been totally illrelevant for the last 40 (yes 40!) years!
